Responding to the Truth and Reconciliation Commissions’ Calls to Action, it is with respect, and in the spirit of reconciliation and truth, that I honour and acknowledge the traditional territories of the peoples of Treaty 7, which include the Blackfoot Confederacy (comprised of the Siksika, the Piikani, and the Kainai First Nations), the Tsuut'ina First Nation, and the Stoney Nakoda (including Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Goodstoney First Nations), The City of Calgary is also home to the Metis Nation of Alberta (Districts 5 and 6).

I acknowledge and give thanks to the many First Nations, Métis Nations and Inuit people who have lived in and cared for these lands for generations and the many others whose histories, languages, and cultures continue to influence our vibrant community.
